What is breathwork?

Breathwork is the ancient practice of intentionally controlling our breathing to positively affect and develop the physical, mental, and spiritual state of our being. For centuries, breathwork has been used by many cultures and tribes around the world as part of health development and preservation. It can also be a powerful tool to re-center ourselves in the present moment and improve our athletic performance.

Through both ancient and modern breathing techniques that are backed by science and used by professional athletes, Navy Seals and Yogis, you will learn to use your breath to improve your overall health and martial arts performance:

  • Develop your respiratory muscles to generate more power in your movements

  • Reduce stress, anxiety, and anger by initiating the body’s relaxation response and regulating stress hormones like cortisol

  • Activate the parasympathetic nervous system — which keeps you cool, calm and collected

  • Foster an increased mind-body connection; crucial to remain sharp and quick in our movements

About Our Instructors

Our instructors are Certified Breathwork Instructors with experience in many of the modern breathwork techniques including Oxygen Advantage, XPT and Wim Hof Method. They will guide you through the journey of healing and tapping into your inner power with different breathwork techniques.

Jesse Ohliger

Founder and head Instructor of Nirvana JKD Society, Sifu Jesse Ohliger has more than 20 years experience in jeet kune do training under bruce lees lineage.

He is well versed in the importance of situational and self awareness, verbal deescalation and personal safety.

jesse has been a mental health nurse for over 15 years with experience in high stress crisis situations. He works with a diverse population with diagnosis’ of depression, ptsd, schizophrenia and substance abuse etc..

Jesse has studied and experienced the immense benefits of breath-work practice as a tool for healing, emotional regulation, athletic performance and overall health. Jesse became a certified Breathwork instructor to provide this amazing practice to his martial art students and anyone else interested in learning.

Camilla Lopez

CAMILLA is a certified breathwork instructor with an interest in herbalism, different wellness practices and healthy living.

having established a career in marketing and advertising, she leaned into wellness to navigate this highly stressful and demanding industry.

through that healing journey, her experience with various wellness practices such as yoga, sound baths and REIKI lead her to get certified as a breathwork instructor.

she is currently working on a holistic health coach certification using the approach of food as medicine through traditional chinese medicine and ayurveda practices.
